WORK ...we all gotta do it!

Your resident youth minister is now a working man! Well... I have been working for a month now, and boy I realize that office work may not be my TRUE calling.

I am working in the office of a pretty well-to-do Construction company. And things are going okay, but my encouragement to you all is to pursue your passion!

While I am working I am still pursuing my own dreams. I can not tell you how many people I know say that they wish they took another job or went back to school for something else. Take my advice while you can never settle for less!

I am not totally complaining about this job, because it is paying the bills (and that is ALWAYS good!) But I'd much rather be getting paid to write or speak and that is my dream and goal. What is yours? ...well why are you sitting there then? …get to it!

Pop, Lock and Drop It!

I have had it with hip hop.

Traditionally hip hop has had songs associated with dance and vice-versa. The Humpty Dance, Tootsie Roll and the most popular dance of all THE ELECTRIC SLIDE But this is ridiculous...

Pop Lock and Drop it?!

Dances these days don't even require skill, dexterity, or even much movement. This is crazy!! I am an old school soul.

Back when you needed to be a rapper in order to rap. Not a con-artist trying to make a song with catchy hook. Rap was the language of the culture of hip hop. We identify with the joy, struggle and comedy that were explained with linguistic prowess.

Now we have people doing this...

Heaven help us

I have to work

I am sorry this video made me laugh, lets pray that lady is alright.

It's President's Day and many of you have to go to work...but I do. I am not going to hate on you thought. I do not have much time to write now, but I am encouraging you to read my last post. Consider it a refresher. I will definitely have a new entry tommorow.

Today's thought: We are celebrating the leader's of our country, but who do you let lead you?

Until then I love you all (real men don't have to say no homo!)

On A Personal Note...(family)

That video made me feel good today. Go to the 6:00 minute mark and listen to that song. I am man enough to say it makes me cry every time I hear it.

I am going to be a bit more personal in this post. If I feel up to it I wiill do my usual social commentary later today...

There are two words I use to govern my life: Love and Justice. Justice is equal rights, opportunities and punishments for everybody. Love is being able to empathize and be willing to replace yourself with another person when they are in trouble.

There is a lack of each surrounding me.

I have a younger sibling whom I love dearly. But at times I do not feel that they do not receive the love and justice that someone so deserving does. The sad fact is that sometimes our own family mistreats and ignores issue they may have.

Only two short days from "Valentine's Day" I feel a lack of love already. But it is only encouragement, to press on with my dream. I am a preacher and motivational speaker; it is my job to spread love. I am going to help my sibling make it. I guarantee you all that.

Furthermore, I will become successful! If you are in needed and are near me I am coming for ya! (lol)

Life Lesson: Love your family to the maximum. Call someone you haven't talk to in a while. And just let them know you love them and are there for them!

Leave a Comment for me, if can. It would really help me today.

Thank all of you for supporting me. I am trying to start a movement of people who understand Jesus was not lazy, quiet or a punk. In our terms he was gangsta. If you want to support this movement email me at philleekid02@yahoo.com and ask for the code for one of my "Jesus was Gangsta" banners for add to your Myspace, Friendstet or any other web page you have.

50 CENT VS. PRESIDENT BUSH

The Saga Continues...

Will Black Men Exterminate
Themselves?

I really want to be able to address all the good that black males are doing to create a great example of what black people are to the enriching society...There are really black men you do such. But it is hard when those who get the most attention are those brothers.

Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent and Cameron Giles aka Cam'ron are involved it what the hip hop community calls "beef." In other words they do not like each other. It started with a radio interview on a WIDELY listen to station in which 50 was involved, that Cam'ron called in and insulter our friend Curtis. This is the Main Topic of discussion in black school, corners and barber shops.

What saddens me is that both of these men are 31 years of age and fathers.

We are living in a time where the opportunity to showcase African-American talent is at an all time high. (Notice I said opportunity, not this does mean it is easy or thoroughly being used.)

We have a black man running for a democratic nomination in which he has the opportunity to win, but is currently in second place.

Barack Obama is being chastised by the media and being labeled a terrorist, drug addict and unsuitable candidate. Instead of websites like allhiphop, sohh and other hip-hop (black) youth oriented site promoting him we are watching the "diss videos of Cam'ron and 50.

These black men have global power. They move the world when they speak and we anticipate there next move. Imagine if 50 or Cam decided it was "gangsta" to vote or “gangsta” of be political knowledgeable. And instead of beefing with each other, they demanded a debate with G.W. Bush.

Imagine the headlines:

50 CENT DEMANDS BUSH PROVIDE BETTER EDUCATION FOR BLACK CHILDREN

I can only dream...

VALENTINES DAY!

I will be the first to admit that I love being in love. But I don't love Valentines Day.

My main reason for not liking V-Day is simple: Why do I need a day to show love? It is crazy! Do I have to love you more on this day than I do on other day?

Honestly I understand Anniversaries, Birthdays and in some sorta of way Christmas. (hey that's A-day, B-day and C-day, yeah I am a dork!) But Valentines Day just seems thrown in there. My girl and I argue about this often, she loves the day and I don't understand it. But she has to know I love her. If not that she really is crazy!

St. Valentine was a man who married young couple when Roman soldiers were outlawed to be wed. He was ultimately killed for this, according to legend. That's love! "No greater love than this that a man lay down is life for friends"

Most you (young people) will be celebrating this day with someone else next year. That' not love. Love is everlasting and has the ability to go beyond gifts, kisses and sex. You must be willing to die for someone!

How much in love are you?

It is crazy in Philly. I woke up this morning to snowy/slushy conditions that made me not want to leave the house all day.

The only day I want it to snow is Christmas, after that spring can arrive. It never fails that it rains on Christmas and snow late in the season much to my displeasure. But I appreciate it today.

Snowy days are lazy days. It like God wants everything to stop and slow down for a minute. How many great memories are created from snowy days.

  • Sledding
  • Snow Tubing
  • Snowball fights
  • Snowmen
  • Snow Tunnels

But we seem to fight against nature with snow plows and salt. But today I think God is winning. Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!!!!! hahaha (keep plowin' suckas!)

The Journey Begins...

Thanks for sharing your time with me, as I share this journey (my life) with you. For starters I am not your typical minister. I was licensed at 13! yes THIRTEEN! I have been preaching since I was eight (8) years old and have not stopped since.

Currently I am 22 years old and beginning to launch myself into ministry even more...Not your typical Mega-church televangelist, but true Christian mission. That is identifying the needs of people and showing them where they can find help. This is not just preaching the "salvation" message but includes feeding hungry people, participating in crime prevention, and implementing plans to saving this generation from what seems to be inevitable destruction.

So you ask, why I am writing this blog? That's a great question (one that people close to me has even asked) the reason is simple, to be as open as possible.

Too often Pastors, Minister and other members of the clergy are not approachable. Whether they have membership of 1000's of members or preaching to themselves preacher act as if God has exempted them from having to empathize, care for or even like parishioners.

This is my way of letting you in on my life, ministry and personal struggles.

In other words, you will know I am human, just like you.
